El Chapo is a Mexican drug lord and former leader of the Sinaloa cartel. He gained notoriety for his extensive criminal activities and his ability to evade capture for many years. El Chapo, whose real name is Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, was born in La Tuna, Sinaloa, Mexico on April 4, 1957. He began his criminal career as a member of the Guadalajara cartel in the 1980s, before establishing his own cartel in the early 1990s. Under his leadership, the Sinaloa cartel became one of the most powerful drug cartels in the world, controlling a significant portion of the global drug trade. Despite multiple arrests and imprisonments, El Chapo managed to escape from prison on several occasions, earning him the nickname "The Escape Artist". He was finally extradited to the United States in 2017, where he was convicted on multiple charges and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
